How Hard Drive
| ||||||
It is not common knowledge to a lot of computer users that there are ways to retrieve lost files from any type of storage device. With the dynamic advancement in the information technology industry, more and more efforts are put into hard drive data recovery software to assuage correlated financial loss with every computer, systems operations, and server crash.
“How does a hard drive data recovery software work?” you may ask. Computer hard disks are plates that store data magnetically. These devices save data and files in a language that standard computer operating systems can read—known as binary digits. Whenever you delete a file, the file goes to the recycle bin as a default. In the recycle bin, computer users are still given an option to restore the file, just in case the file was accidentally deleted. However, once you delete a file that is already in the recycle bin, it is permanently deleted and you cannot restore it unless you have software that will enable you to do so.
In reality, the file is still in your hard disk. It is there and it will not go away. The idea of deleting a file is not similar to literally erasing a pencil doodle from a paper. When files are deleted from the recycle bin, the files are converted into another computer language that a standard computer operating system cannot read. This is where data recovery software comes in. What it does is to get the deleted file from the hard disk and convert it again into a language that your computer operating system can recognize. Once this is done, the files will go back to the recycle bin from which you may restore them back to their original destination folders.
To make an analogy, deleted files from the recycle bin are like garbage buried deep under the earth. People cannot see this garage anymore since it is hidden beneath the soil. If there is a need to exhume the garbage, you need a big machine to dig the soil for you. Let us say that the earth is the hard disk, the truck is the data recovery software, and you are the computer operating system.
Data retrieval is also possible even if your hard disk crashed, was burned, or got wet. However, keep in mind that there is no 100% guarantee that all the files will be retrieved. And also, this type of data recovery is expensive, used mostly by companies who cannot afford to deal with data loss. Most of these are banks and other similar institutions which should never have any file lost or deleted at all.
This recovery software is now available for home consumers. Now that the information highway has allowed home users to put up businesses online, people are experiencing financial loss just about the same way big companies do. Before purchasing one, consult a technician to see compatibility with your computer. There are also companies that offer 100% data recovery with the maxim, “If we don’t recover your data, you don’t pay.”
